Mother's Day sans mother...

Over at mom's right now. Came over late this morning to give grandma her flowers and card. I made her a card, which I think pleased her even more than the flowers. Now, if only that were enough to get me into art class. The thing is, I didn't draw anything on it, it was all done by layering paper and cutting the edges with shape scissors, but it looks cool. At least that's one matriarch placated.
Which leaves Mom, who isn't even here. Apparrently, she went to visit gramps, so at least I don't have to give her anything today. Which is good, because I haven't gotten her anything yet. Wait, don't kill me yet. I didn't forget or anything. I just don't know what to get her, exactly. Heck, right now I'd settle for unexactly. See, I called her and talked to her Saturday morning, just to see if she was awake, which she almost was. Anyway, the subject of mother's day came up, and I very casually asked her if there was anything she happened to see and like enough to want. You know, being very careful not to sound desperate, which by then I was very nearly. She kind of sighed unhappily and said no, she didn't want anything, that no one was going to get her anything anyway. Then I asked if I could take her out to dinner or breakfast. Same response, "don't bother".
Makes it kind of hard to buy something for her. Maybe I'll try to make her a card, but I doubt she'd care enough anyway. Mom was never very big on art stuff. Kind of like everything else I'm interested in. At the moment I'm tempted to give her a piece of roadkill, but she might enjoy it too much.

*hugs* Your mother is just taking out her problems on you. If she was in a rational frame of mind she'd realize that yes, someone WAS getting her something, that was why you asked. It's not your fault, there's nothing you can do about it.

Have you talked to Jen about all this? Jen is smart. :) She can probably give you good advice. I'm a moron, so you wouldn't want any advice from me. But, if you want a hug, I'm right across the way. :)
