R.I.P

Well, after nearly three years of blissful coverage, my apron finally gave up the ghost tonight. I thought it might be going soon the previous night, when I reached into my pocket to fetch the self-serve computer code and my fingers poked out the bottom. Well, I was going after my proportion wheel a little while ago when there was this ripping sound and the whole bottom of the pocket just gave way and my hand went through to the wrist. It was a mortal wound, for the thread dividing the little scrap of fabric into three different pocket ripped out a long time ago and I've been making do with a pocket large enough for a small child. Buy, alas, that too has passed.
So it is with a sad sense of finality that I roll up the only other thing that has been with me for so long at work. Yes, I know it's silly to get so sentimental over a mere object, but it had more staying power than most of the people I work with. I won't throw it away. I'll take it home and maybe use it for someting else. Or use the cloth to make something. Years of wear have made it soft and felxible, and the ink stains only makee it more vintage.
