Cogito cogito ergo cogito sum...

Got this from a mailing list, thought it was worth posting here.

One of my pet peeves as a musician in a smyphony orchestra is trying to follow the erratic beat of famous guest conductors. I didn't realize how strongly the rest of the musicians felt until we were talking to someone from a university physics department at a reception. When I asked him what his field was, he answered, "I work with semiconductors."
"So do we," I heard a colleague mutter.

The really sad thing is, it's true. Sometimes it's hard to tell whether the conductor is conducting or having a seizure. Luckily, we don't usually depend on the conductor that much.

If anyone's interested, the Latin above, courtesy of Ambrose Bierce, translates to "I think that I think, therefore I think that I am."

I meant to go with to see Harry Potter, but I didn't know what time everything was happening, and by the time I saw ruebert's entry, it was almost noon. One of the disadvantages of not having easy access to the internet. Ah, well, maybe I can drag Mom to it next week.

And this week's strange headline...
(cue drumroll)
Pig pile-up sparks traffic headache
