Oh, the 80's of it all.

This is one of the two movies my mother (video)taped when it aired so we would have something to watch. I was seven, and it scared the bejeezus out of me, and still kind of does. It's really dated and pretty awful, but the two things I remember to this day are the jabberwocky and Carol Channing's singing. Not sure what terrified me the most. By the way, the other movie was The Princess Bride, which I still love.

Entire thing here in parts.

This has been my week of funny coincidences. One evening last week we watched this version of Alice in Wonderland (which I'd queued up on Netflix so that the girls would have something to watch). After that I spent a significant amount of time trying to describe the freakiness of Carol Channing in the live action version I grew up with! I didn't even know anyone besides me had ever even seen this film, much less videotaped it off television!

Gosh...we're old.

Yes!!! My parents taped that, too! I had nightmares about the Jabberwocky for the longest time! I had a window right over my bed -- and the part of the movie where the Jabberwocky came *through* the mirror into the real world after Alice made it so hard for me to sleep under that window!

That Jabberwocky was really quite scary for a 5-6 yearold...
