Oy taxes. This year's numbers are insanely complicated. Spending the afternoon with a room full of papers and forms going huh? is just agonizing. So I balanced out the evening by dyeing eggs. Until a cat decided she had to be on the table and landed right in the green cup. So there is a cat with a still-damp but now mostly not green leg sulking in the corner behind the couch. Funniest thing ever - a cat running on three legs across the kitchen with me close behind brandishing a wet towel.

Also watched Where the Wild Things Are. Very nice, creative cinematography, but everything else was just confusing and surreal. For a children's movie, it was agonizingly slow-paced.

I've been trying to get outside and start working on the backyard, but apparently spring is something that only happens back east. It's nothing but cold and really, really windy, with enough rain/snow/sleet/whatever to keep the ground unbearably muddy.

I agreed to play for a concert with a symphony over in Elko. It's rather petrifying. I mean, it's a paid gig with a contract and everything, and the only reason they were looking for string players is because our Philharmonic had a conflict that same night. Urgh... talk about high expectations.

Joined a cello group a while back. Wide range of aptitudes, and the music is mostly fun, though there are some arrangements I just can. not. stand. But it's been a timely reminder that I don't completely fail at everything, and I had forgotten how much I really enjoy chamber music.
