So tired...

..but still sooooooooo wired from the coffee.

So, I give you music. This, my goats, is what we will be playing on March 3rd in our concert. Well, this is some of what we will be playing. I was trying to upload the Copland clarinet concerto, but iTunes wouldn't let me. Rest assured, it is a very cool piece. Also, it is fiendishly difficult.

Anyway, we are playing much Shostakovich, and quite different from the turmoil of his symphonies. This is the festive overture, and I really enjoy it. Remarkably happy for a Russian.

Next is stuff from the Jazz suite. It is, for the most part, also happy.

Lyric Waltz - This had the added joy of a high a-flat in the cello part (the one above the ledger in treble cleff.) Actually, the whole melody section is about an octave higher than the practical range for cello. Plus, it's in a gazillion flats.

Little Polka - Unique in that there's an accordian part written to duet with the xylophone. Also, not very Russian in nature.

Waltz 2 - Probably the most recognizable of the suite. Sad and lumbering.

We're playing the other movements, these are just a sampling.

Also, Bella Vocce is singing Songs for Women's Voices with us. Very choral. Rather odd...

And now, for my Russian torture...er, homework. In which I completely mangle accusative case.

Wait! I saw this yesterday, and can't decide whether or not it's gross or really cool.
