Joiner King... rant ahead...

Since I never seem to update with anything pertaining to my life anymore, here's a Star Wars-ish rant.

Found at "http://www.starwars.com/eu/lit/novel/news20050215.html".

First Look: The Joiner King

Luke Skywalker is worried.

Right, this is different that usual how?

A handful of Jedi Knights, including his nephew and niece, Jaina and Jacen Solo, have disappeared into the Unknown Regions,

Why does everyone keep doing that? Because then you have to go in after them, and by this point they should be named the Known Regoins.

in response to a strange cry for help that only they could hear.

Only in the Star Wars universe is hearing voices not a sign of insanity.

The isolationist Chiss

Isn't that a bit redundant?

have angrily lodged a formal complaint,

Gasp! How dare they?

accusing the missing Jedi of meddling

Jedi, meddle?

in a border dispute between the Chiss and an unidentified aggressor.

Ooh - why does this sounds familiar?

Luke has no choice but to head to the Unknown Regions

What, he's the only respinsible Jedi around these days?

in an attempt to stem the growing tensions before they spill out of control.

Which they will.

Han and Leia follow, intent on protecting their children from what could be grave danger.

Because gosh, it's not like they can protect themselves.

But none of them are prepared for what they find when they reach their destination.

Let me guess - is it Evil?

A colony of mysterious aliens is expanding toward the edge of Chiss space.

Correct me ig I'm wrong, but there's no where for them to expand from, seeing as how Chiss space is situated.

The leader of the alien nest is resolute.

Resolute about what? Errgh.

Adept in the Force,

Of course he is.

he is drawing old friends

Whose old friends? His? Luke's? George Lucas'?

to his side, compelling them to join the colony and meld their Force-abilities with his, even if it leads to all-out war....

Which would be rather inconvienent, coming as it is right after the last all-out war

Thus begins the Dark Nest trilogy by author Troy Denning.

The only bright point - he did Star by Star.

Here's a first look at the cover art by Cliff Nielsen. Dark Nest I: The Joiner King is slated for paperback release from Del Rey Books on July 26, 2005.

Amazon says August 26th. Del Rey says August 16th.

And included as a special bonus: the short story Ylesia by Walter Jon Williams, previously only available in ebook format. Because it was pointlessly irrelevant and badly-written at that..

Okay, Han's seen better days. And I've seen better covers. And are the pincers supposed to be the new bad guys? Because I'm thinking a can of Raid would do it. And "Starring the heroes of the New Jedi Order" is just a little bit kitchy.

Why, yes. Yes, I will. And then I'll sit down and read it cover to cover and rant about how bad it was. S'okay, though, because it's only a paperback. I'll only be out seven bucks.
